Melissa has over 11 years of experience teaching yoga and mindfulness. She is also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Melissa tends towards a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach. She draws techniques from mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and polyvagal theory.
She is particularly interested in helping people as they work through trauma, addiction, codependency, and building self-esteem, as well as people living with chronic illnesses. In the past, she has worked primarily with children, adolescents, and their families but now enjoys working with people of all ages. She is passionate about creating a welcoming, non-judgmental space for people of all identities and backgrounds.
Melissa is married with two children, as well as a dog and a cat. She enjoys running, yoga, hiking, reading, swimming, and spending time with family (including her very large extended family).
